Yeti SB-series 130/140/150/165 cable rub / rattle fix

The 2019 SB150 has a known issue with cable rubbing through the carbon at the internal cable routing apertures, especially with the shifter cable. The 2020 frames have grommets at the cable routing openings, but the 2019s do not. Apparently this is also a potential warranty issue if you are the original owner and have the frame inspected by a certified Yeti dealer, but I'd like to give this hint to anyone running a 2019 frame and not suffering from this issue yet, before it's too late and the cable has already rubbed through the cable routing! Luckily the wear is only cosmetic and does not affect the structural integrity of the frame, but it's still very annying and should not happen on a 4000€ frame.

The wear is also evident in the Enduro magazine's bike check of Richie Rude's SB150, as seen in the below picture taken from this article. This shows the shift cable clearly running off-center from the cable routing aperture, which means it has already worn the frame.

The DIY solution

Meanwhile, a solution they also works for people who have not had the issue, or perhaps have bought frames second hand which are not eligible for Yeti's lifetime warranty, is electrical cable grommets. I used the Hellermanntyton HV2213 series cable grommer 632-02130, which is available from any Hellermanntyton distributor or even eBay for less than 1€ a pop. Dimensions for the grommet are shown below, and this is a perfect fit in the frame and on a 4mm & 4.5mm shifter cable. It doesn't work on the brake line though, as the brake line diameter is too big for this. However, they have another HV2213 that fits, see below.
